Brandon-Evansville swept a baseball double header from Hillcrest Lutheran Academy on Tuesday. The Chargers used an eight-run third inning to help them defeat the Comets 13-1 in game one.  The bottom of the order helped Brandon-Evansville capture a 14-3 victory in the nightcap.  The games were played in Evansville.

Carter White (3IP, 2H, 4K, 2BB) earned the win for B-E in the opener.  Nate Bermel (5K, 4BB, 11R, 6H) took the loss for the Comets.  Colton Breitkreutz threw two innings of scoreless relief, striking out five and walking none.  White (2-3, 3R, BB, 2B), Riley Perleberg (2-3, 2R, BB), Lucas Fuller (2-3, 2R) and Landon Sullivan (2-4, R) were the hitting leaders for the Chargers.

“A lot of guys were putting the ball in play and we were able to get some key hits when we needed them,” stated Head Coach Brian Perleberg of the Chargers.  “Carter White and Colton Breitkreutz both pitched well and their defense made plays, which is always what you hope for.”

Offensive leaders for Brandon-Evansville in game two were Sullivan (2-3, R, BB), Perleberg (2-3, R, SF), Kaden Englund (2-3, 2B, 3R), Fuller (1-2, 2R) and Breitkreutz (2-2, 2R, BB).  Sullivan was the winning pitcher (2IP, 0H, 4K, 1BB).

“We hadn’t been swinging the bats very well in the first few games, so it was great to see things start to click offensively,” said Coach Perleberg.  “We still have a lot of work to do, but it was a step in the right direction.  We also were able to get several pitchers on the mound to gain some valuable early season experience and we were very happy with the defensive effort today.”
